Upgarage Yokohama Machida Sohonten is one of the largest used car and motorcycle accessory stores in Japan and is known as the flagship store of Upgarage. Located in Tsuruma, Machida City, Tokyo, the first store opened in April 1999.
The store is a two-story building with a main building and a tire and wheel building. The first floor of the main building sells tires and wheels, car audio systems, car navigation systems, aero parts, mufflers, and other car accessories. The second floor of the main building offers a wide selection of motorcycle accessories and parts, while the “Wheels” annex offers a wide variety of tires and wheels. In addition, the store features a “Cycles” section for bicycle-related items and a “Tools” section specializing in tools, offering a product lineup to meet a wide range of mobility needs. The store is open from 10:00 to 20:00 on weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays, and is open year-round (except during the year-end and New Year holidays).
Let’s take a look at the first floor of the main building to see what kind of store it is.

Main Bldg. 1F
Upon entering the entrance, you will see a magnificent floor packed with parts. Various parts such as suspensions, tires, and tools are lined up in a cramped space.
Here is a shelf of mufflers. Almost all of them are used, so the prices are quite reasonable compared to new ones. It is nice to be able to change the sound of your car quickly when you get tired of hearing it.
Shelves for headlights and taillights. The car models are also written on the tags of the products, so it is interesting to play a game of guessing the car model. (I don’t think there are many people who do that…)
Nissan Skyline tail lamps. There were also some old sports cars such as Silvia. They are a little big, but they might be good souvenirs. Or you can display them in your room.
Stickers. There is also a Hinomaru one, which may not be a luggage. You can put it on your car or on your PC.
There were also Japanese car wash products. I highly recommend Garaco, a water repellent for windows. It has a very long-lasting water repellent effect and provides clear visibility on rainy days. I actually use it myself! There were also car wash brushes, coatings, and cling solution.
There are tools, of course. There was also a tool rack, so anyone who wants to do serious maintenance but needs good used equipment should definitely visit!
The last part of the ground floor is an impact drill. Now you can easily change a tire. There are also electric cutters, and I was surprised at the wide selection of products. It looks like you can actually try them out before you buy, so if there is something you are interested in, please ask the store staff.
Main Bldg. 2F
The second floor is a motorcycle and bicycle section. Some, but not all, of the bikes and bicycles were sold used.
As on the first floor, there were parts for lights and mufflers. To be honest, I don’t know much about motorcycles, but it was quite interesting to compare them with automobile parts.
If you go to the back of the building, you will find clothes and jumpers for riders. There are some vintage-like clothes, and if you are interested in fashion, you should definitely stop by the second floor.
At the top of the stairs leading from the first floor, there is a driving simulator. It seems that anyone can play it for free, so if you come here with your friends, you should definitely try it out! (Of course, you can do it alone, too!) By the way, the map of the day was the Metropolitan Expressway.
Main Bldg. 3F
The third floor is a somewhat bizarre sight, with tires all over the place. Various sizes and brands of wheels are lined up. It is a rare sight, and you will definitely want to take a picture of it.
The larger auto parts are visible behind the tires. I think there were mainly bumpers.
It would be fun to play a game of guessing the car model here, too. By the way, the gray bumper is an R35 GT-R. Cool…
Front grilles are also lined up. It is interesting to see the various manufacturers lined up in random order. It is not easy to compare other companies by parts alone. However, BMW’s kidney grilles stand out even from a distance!
Annex (Tire & Wheel Hall) 1F
I was about to leave, very satisfied with the main building, when I realized to my surprise that there was another building. How big is it?
The first floor seems to be lined with tires of car models and sizes that were not on the third floor of the main building mentioned earlier. The selection of products here is also amazing. This is the main store! There is also a maintenance shop in the back of the tire department, where they will take care of the tires you bought and inspect them for you. This is a relief.
Not only tires and wheels themselves, but also nuts and wheel caps were sold. How about a wheel cap as a souvenir? They are light and cool!
Annex 2F
The second floor was crammed with wheels. Surprisingly, there were many wheels for foreign cars, including BMW and Porsche wheels. I got the impression that there were few scratches and good quality wheels. There was a sign that said not to touch them, so please be careful not to touch them.
Summary
The space and the selection of goods are impressive, as it is the main store of Upgarage. If you take your time, you may be able to spend about an hour here. For car lovers, there are many good things to see, such as parts and rare souvenirs at reasonable prices.
Incidentally, the photo above shows a large number of used cars lined up in a multi-level parking lot as we exited. I had never seen such a large used car shop before in my life, so I took this picture to commemorate the event. If you have any requests for coverage, by all means!
The Ramen Museum and a go-kart track called F Dream Hiratsuka are also close to Upgarage Yokohama Machida, so be sure to stop by! Articles about these are as follows.
