Road Trips
This article can be read in about 11 minutes.

I have been to Tottori Prefecture and would like to introduce four spots that I recommend to everyone.

Tottori Prefecture is located in the Chugoku region of Japan and is rich in nature, facing the Sea of Japan. Its magnificent natural scenery, including the Tottori Sand Dunes, the largest sand dunes in Japan, and the Uradome Coast with its beautiful coastline, are very attractive. Sakaiminato City, the birthplace of cartoonist Shigeru Mizuki, is home to Mizuki Shigeru Road, where visitors can enjoy the culture of yokai. Daisen is a popular spot for outdoor enthusiasts, where mountain climbing and skiing can be enjoyed in all four seasons. Agricultural products are also abundant, and specialty products such as pears and crabs are well known throughout Japan.

Tottori Sand Dune

The dunes are among the largest in Japan and were formed over a period of about 100,000 years. The vast sea of sand is breathtaking, and activities such as camel riding and paragliding can be enjoyed. There were also many souvenir stores, restaurants, and other tourist stores in the area.

From the dune center, you can see the Sea of Japan and the entire desert. Please be sure to climb up there, as you will be able to take valuable photographs, which are not easy to take in Japan!

Tottori Gyukotsu Ramen Yakki, Ajitama Gyukotsu Ramen 1,100 yen

I heard that Tottori Gyukotsu Ramen is famous, so I tried it. It is a good, refreshing ramen with a hint of pepper! The unique seasoning, which cannot be tasted anywhere else but Tottori, is addictive.

I will definitely stop by again next time!

According to the myth, the White Rabbit brought together Okuninushi no Mikoto and Hachigami Hime, and is said to bring good luck in matchmaking and the fulfillment of love. The shrine grounds are dotted with stone statues of rabbits associated with the “White Rabbit Myth” and are popular with visitors. Located near the Tottori Sand Dunes, the temple is a popular tourist spot. The location overlooking the sea is also attractive, offering a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere.

One-day Onsen Ocean

Finally, wash away the fatigue of your trip with a hot spring bath!

One-day Onsen Ocean is a spa facility based on the concept of a Bali resort, located in Yonago City, Tottori Prefecture. The baths are made from Kaike Onsen hot spring water and have one of the largest open-air baths in the Chugoku region: the “rock bath” on the first floor is surrounded by giant rocks and gardens, while the “sea bath” on the second floor overlooks the Sea of Japan. The baths are equipped with a variety of facilities, including a high-temperature sauna, mist sauna, family baths, and Thai-style body care, and the restaurant offers meals with a view of the sea. Open from 10:00 to 24:00, the spa is equipped with amenities to make your visit comfortable even if you come empty-handed.
